Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1980) [DVD] - TV Movie - David Hemmings
A terrifying struggle between good and evil is the central conflict of this powerful adaptation by Gerald Savory of Robert Louis Stevenson's compulsive thriller.
Dr. Jekyll, a radical and brilliant doctor, discovers a way of separating the evil and good sides of his personality by taking a drug's potion. He undergoes a transformation from the elderly, solemn figure of Jekyll into the younger, Mr. Hyde, who cannot control nor satisfy his depraved appetites. Free from the restraints of morality, he indulges in a diet of wicked and debauched behaviour which ends in tragic and brutal murder. The good doctor, ultimately unable to control the fiend, begins to suspect that the monster he has unleashed may well lead to his own destruction.
